“Educating a woman is educating a generation”.

At Women's College Dunguripali, we are dedicated to empowering young women to find their own voices and stand tall in the world. We foster an environment where courage is celebrated and ambition is nurtured. My message to the students is simple: Dream big. The world is waiting for your leadership, your innovation, and your unique perspective. Here, we give you the wings to fly.

In an era of rapid technological advancement, I believe that the true essence of education remains rooted in our values. At Dunguripali Women's College, we do not just teach students how to make a living; we teach them how to live. Our prospectus is not just a list of facilities, but a promise of our commitment to Integrity, Empathy, and Excellence. We strive to cultivate a campus culture where honesty is upheld, diversity is respected, and every individual is encouraged to contribute to the greater good.

Success, to us, is defined by the quality of the person you become. We invite students who are eager not only to learn but to lead with a conscience. Welcome to a community where character counts. As I conclude with a famous quote: “Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women”.

Chief Editor's Message

Mr. Pabitra Karna · PGT (English)

In life, certain moments prompt us to reflect deeply on our true purpose and its impact on others. One such profound feeling is the joy of giving. True happiness lies not in receiving, but in giving generously. Sharing with those in need - whether money, material things, a helping hand, words of appreciation, attention, empathy, love, or compassion - brings an indescribable pleasure that must be experienced to be understood. When we give, we forge meaningful connections with others. Our acts of kindness create ripples of change, filling us with accomplishment, pride, and empowerment.

Let us commit to a life of giving joy. Try it - it truly works! With great pleasure, we present the 1st issue of Devshila, our college magazine. This cherished collection features literary gems from our students and teachers, alongside glimpses of our inspiring journey through the 2025-26 academic year. May it hold a special place in every reader's heart.

“Words are not merely ink on paper; they are the silent echoes of a soul trying to find its way home through the hearts of others.” — Editorial Board, Devshila

Journey of Transformation

A Journey of Excellence (2018 - 2026)

Dunguripali Women's College to Devshila Women's College — eight years of empowering women through quality education.

01

The Seed of an Idea (2018–2026)

Eight years ago, the landscape of Dunguripali saw the birth of a mission: to ensure that no daughter of Sonepur had to sacrifice her dreams due to distance or lack of opportunity. What started as a modest endeavour has now blossomed into a cornerstone of women's empowerment. We began not just with bricks and mortar, but with the collective hope of parents and educators who believed in the power of a girl's education.

02

Building the Temple of Learning

The physical transformation of our campus is a testament to our progress. From those initial days of basic facilities, we have systematically expanded our academic reach, strengthened our core departments, ensured a robust faculty-to-student ratio and developed our library, laboratory facilities and the “green campus” initiative into a sanctuary for focused study and intellectual curiosity.

03

Beyond Textbooks: Shaping Personalities

A college is defined by the character of its students. Over the last eight years, Dunguripali Women's College has become a hive of activity through NSS and Social Responsibility, Cultural Pride celebrations and integrating our local Sonepur heritage with modern education.

“Our transformation is not measured in the height of our walls, but in the confidence of our students. We have watched young girls walk through these gates with hesitation and leave them as women with a vision.”
04

Breaking Barriers in Rural Education

The most “true matter” of our journey is the accessibility we have provided. In a region where higher education for women sometimes faced social and logistical hurdles, this college has acted as a bridge. We have seen a steady increase in enrollment numbers year-over-year, proving that when you provide a safe, high-quality environment, the community responds with overwhelming trust.

05

The Legacy of the “First Batches”

Today, as we look at our alumni, we see the true fruit of our labor. Our former students are now pursuing post-graduation, entering the workforce, and becoming informed citizens. They are the living proof that the eight-year investment in Dunguripali Women's College is paying dividends in the form of empowered families and a stronger society.

“Eight years is just the prologue. As we reflect on our journey from a small spark to a steady flame, we realize that at Dunguripali Women's College, the best chapters are yet to be written.”

Literature & Creative Writing

Selected literary contributions from students and faculty - in Odia, Hindi and English.

ଜ୍ଞାନ ହିଁ ଭୂଷଣ (Knowledge is the True Ornament)

Kishor Chandra Meher · Lecturer in History

Every great institution is not built in a single day. It requires immense effort and dedication. The renowned Nalanda Vishwavidyalaya was also once a great university...

The article traces the history of learning, the journey of Nalanda, the role of scholars like Xuanzang and Hiuen Tsang, and the timeless wisdom of kings like Harshavardhana who valued knowledge above wealth. It reflects on the duty of every generation to protect knowledge and build the next chapter of learning.

ଫୁଲ (The Flower)

Faculty contribution in Odia

In God's wondrous creation, a tree is a beautiful creation. A flower born on the green earth fills the air with fragrance and joy...

A short reflection on the role of nature, fragrance, and patience in our lives.

वह स्त्री है… (That Woman Is…)

Swagatika Padhan · Faculty

She is not just a name, she is an identity. When silent, she is patience; when she speaks, she is a storm. She carries the lines of history in her palms. She has rebuilt herself at every turn.

A poetic tribute to the strength, dignity and identity of women.

मां-पापा का प्यार (The Love of Maa-Papa)

Student contribution in Hindi

When you came to know about my arrival, love started pouring from both of you even before you saw me… A heartfelt Hindi poem celebrating parents' unconditional love.

କାଚଘର (The Glass House)

Pramodinee Barik · Lecturer in Odia

O daughter-in-law, O mother-in-law, did you ever think why you are what you are? Where you came from, where you are, where you will be tomorrow…

A reflective poem on the cycle of life, the strength of women, and the importance of self-respect.

ଶିକ୍ଷା ଓ ଶିକ୍ଷକ (Education & Teacher)

Sasmita Mohapatra · Lecturer in Education

Education is the path of light, the teacher is the chariot of that path. One gives direction, the other gives motion…

A tribute to the bond between a teacher and education.

ଚେତନା (Consciousness)

Smrutirekha Padhan · Lecturer in Sanskrit

Man and woman are two beautiful creations of God. Before a girl becomes a woman, she is someone's daughter…

A Sanskrit-Odia reflection beginning with the shloka “ॐ सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः”.

Who is Killing Aravalli Ranges?

Mrs. Ranjita Bhoi · Lecturer in English

The Aravalli Range is one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, stretching across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. These hills act as a natural barrier against desertification, help in groundwater recharge, and support rich biodiversity. However, today the Aravalli Ranges are slowly dying due to human greed and neglect. Illegal mining, deforestation, urbanization, and weak law enforcement have caused severe damage.

The article explores environmental degradation, the role of government, media, and civil society, and asks: if we remain silent, history will remember us as the ones who let the Aravallis die.

The Silent Architect: A Tribute to the First Teacher MOTHER

Miss Namita Dash · Lecturer in History

We often think of education as something that begins with a school bell and ends with a diploma. But the truest form of education begins in the quiet moments at home, long before a child ever holds a pencil. A mother is a child's first window to the world. She is the one who teaches the most difficult subjects: patience, kindness, and the courage to try again after a fall. While a school teaches a child what to think, a mother teaches them how to feel and how to dream.

She is the silent architect of character. Let us remember that the greatest lessons are rarely written on a chalkboard - they are etched into our souls by the love and guidance of a mother.

FOR A LOVING MOTHER

Swaty Sahu · +2 2nd Year

Love your mom, and sit nearest to her, obviously, you are her dearest. Love your mom, respect your father, be curious, and save your future…

A short student poem dedicated to mothers and values.

பରବ (Festivals)

Shruti Meher · +3 6th Semester

A delightful Odia poem walking through the twelve months of festivals in Odisha - from Ashadha Ratha Yatra to Jyeshta, with vivid verses about Jagannath, Shiv, Ganesh, Durga, Lakshmi and the cultural pride of our land.

FRIENDS: THE GIFT OF GOD

Mamata Sahu · +2 2nd Year

Friends are the persons who understand our feelings without expressing. They are the real gold. They are like the relief of a gentle rain. If we are sad, they make us happy; they are our shield.

The essence of true friendship - positivity, loyalty, guidance and honesty - explained in a heartfelt student essay.

मैं कौन हूँ? (Who Am I?)

Rojalin Naik · +2 1st Year

I am a daughter of that land where the Himalaya is in my head and the ocean at my feet. I am a daughter of that land where the soil is like Yamuna and sisters are like Baitarani…

A Hindi poem on the identity, dignity and freedom of women.
